crosby beach, lancashireOur business is community consultation – helping local people have a meaningful input into how new development affects their communities, helping developers make sure that their proposals reflect local needs and aspirations, and helping local authorities understand how all that has been done.

Public consultation, community engagement… call it what you will, the concept has been part of the British land-use planning system since the late 1960s. Consultation, however, is still all too often seen by the public to be a “whitewash”. They won’t really listen. They’ve already made their minds up. What’s the point?

We believe there is a point. Firstly, our work will satisfy the legal requirement of the new Scottish planning system that all major planning applications need to demonstrate how the public have been involved in shaping the development proposals. Secondly, and equally importantly, because we genuinely believe that good community involvement makes better places.
